Camera Setup Light Box

Haven't seen one of these before.
Would be handy for camera buffs.
Has sliding tinted glass panels with
strong quartz backlight & difuser

Neat!

I wonder why the color bars aren't in the standard order, though. The SMPTE standard has the white bar on the left...

OK for rough check (do you basically get 6 colors), but the bars aren't accurate enough for checking with a waveform monitor or vector scope. If it came with Indianhead and registration patterns, that could be useful.

You can change the order to SMPTE by sliding the glass panels
Also noticed it has a dimmer control as well
Color bars panel slides out for other test patterns to drop in no doubt
Sticker on side says PBT-100 and J-602 -049-OA (part number)

Put them in right order now , only thing is the "Red" seems orange (like some TVs)
This Red glass has a corrective Gel over it for some reason.
Otherwise they are very precise tints & backlight

I presume you would want to run something like that from a well regulated AC supply to keep the lamp at a constant brightness and color temperature.

That is a Sony light box with their own color specs and order. Just like the one we had at the shop I worked at.

Had one here at the ballpark today via Sony Service. We used it for chip-chart alignment. All HD cams fine today. Not sure why a color bar display would do any good. Too many variables. Color fading, bar alignment is available in the software, etc.

Definitely a Sony light box, I have one with the bulbs failed. In the UK the two bulbs are in series for 240V. and in the UK they are very unusual bulbs, definitely non standard and replacing the holders to take a standard halogen lamp is, as they say, on the to-do list!

Ah, Sony...probably why red has a corrective gel. Those guys always seemed to think that orange was red.

I had one with a reg chart in it. Moderately useful.

I have one of those also with different slides, the Color bar Slide is Really only for Sony cameras, the lamp in the pattern Box is Regulated for Light output and there is a light Filter in the pattern Box, it is on a slide in tray, that is needed for proper Color Temp Adjustment, I think the model of this Box made for Sony is a ptb-500 or ptb-800, there are 2 Models ,one of the Slides is corrected for Sony Single Tube Trinicon Color Camera alignment, the other model for pro 3 Tube cameras.
