McClure Picturephone record player/projector

Here's a tube-type McClure "Picturephone" combination 4-speed record player and filmstrip projector. These were sometimes used by schools; but, were mainly used by salesmen and for in-house training. In fact, this one came with a couple of film/record sets from a life insurance company. This one uses a typical 4-speed Alliance motor, with a metal Astatic tonearm that is fitted with an Astatic 85D1 powerpoint plug-in cartridge. The amp contains two octal tubes (12SQ7, 50L6) + a selenium rectifier and as best I can tell, it's from 1959. The unit still works; but, it will get a proper restoration before I use it.

Over the years, I've seen similar models and it appears that the cosmetics didn't change much from the 1940's until the late '60's. The earlier ones had a longer tonearm that would play 16" records and I think the last ones had a solid state amplifier.

The only ones, I saw around here, were the LaBelle models, made in Wisconsin. I don't remember them, that well. It sounded like it had a good amp. :thmbsp:
