'404' is an error message which means the URL you entered into your browser's address field is invalid, for one reason or another (typos, mostly). Many times this message appears when the website you are trying to reach is down for any reason, or just plain does not exist. I have seen this error message on occasion (not too often, though) when trying to access photos and other things in postings here at VK, as well as messages from Craigslist stating that the posting (referenced in a URL on VK) has been deleted. In the latter case there is nothing to be done, since once a web posting is gone, in most cases it is gone forever; in the former, your best bet is to contact the website's administrator, as there is a problem at their end.
The first thing I'd do, however, is to recheck the typing of the URL to be certain there are no errors. Computers are very persnickety when it comes to data entry; the information must be entered exactly correctly, meaning words must be spelled properly and even punctuation must be as it is originally published (if you are copying a URL into your browser from a magazine, for example). One small error can and almost always does result in error message 404 -- page not found.
