12" Zenith B&W

with the electronic keypad tuning from 1982... I picked this up thinking it must be the last b/w tv to have a remote, but it doesn't use a remote at all, it just has the pushbutton tuning (with the red led channel display) only. I wonder if Zenith did make any of these with the remote? Anyway, here's the picture.

What is the latest model remote control b&w television anyone here has seen? The newest b/w I've ever had or even seen was a '71 Zenith 19".

If they made a remote version, I dont recall servicing one of these.

I do remember these sets, though. I sold a few of them.

I've never seen a remote version and I don't think they made one. However, there was a 19" version of this set.

20+ years ago, I saw the 12" version at a yard sale for $20. It was in perfect shape; but, I left it there because, at the time, $20 would have been all I could have gotten for it.

About 10 years ago, the local Zenith dealer was giving me all their junk and they gave me the 19" version of this TV. Unfortunately, I had to junk it because it had a broken CRT neck and cracked PC board (probably from a fall).

If I ever find another one for a reasonable price, I'll get it.

As far as a remote B&W TV, I'd say the early '70's was probably the cut-off date.

I worked for a big Zenith dealer 1970-2000
We sold maybe 12 of this model. I think it sold for abt $140
while the regular tuner set was $110.
They didnt make a remote version.
Never sold a remote B&W, must have been gone by early 70's
except wired remote hospital sets.
Even remote colors sold few in early 70's most we sold were
19" for bedrooms. It added abt $100 to the cost.

I have the 19" version of this set. Mine needs a new on-off/volume control pot as the original one is worn out and it's hard to get the set on or off.

I had the knob tuned version of this 12 inch set. It was a great performer and very reliable. I used it regularly for almost 20 years and never had the back off. I bought it new in 1987.
