Got a lead on a Grundig TV combo console
Ignoring the Kuba at the ETF I've only seen 2-3 tube era German imported consoles in the USA (all were in a Chicago Grundig specialist store).
A friend found this locally. They want a c-note for it. I fear the TV portion is probably long gone, but need to see for myself to know. I don't have any place to put it and probably should walk away, but the sheer rarity makes me not do so as easy. Anyone know if it is a monochrome or color model? So what say you, pounce or run away (far away)? https://c4.staticflickr.com/6/5606/3...5e37afff_z.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/1/318/31...6d8951cf_z.jpg https://c3.staticflickr.com/1/375/31...ff17d2b5_z.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/6/5607/3...d78cc6c4_z.jpg https://c5.staticflickr.com/1/561/31...02a0fb2c_z.jpg https://c3.staticflickr.com/1/630/31...da41c397_z.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/382/30...20d58931_z.jpg |
Yep, the TV section looks to be gone. In the last photo, you can see the vent holes in the back cover through the front bezel, which you wouldn't normally see if the CRT was still there. :sigh: A damn shame, if you ask me, though the radio part should still be pretty decent, and it might even have a separate tube amplifier.

Enormous, gutted, foreign console with finish issues, I would run far, far away. :D
If it was complete then maybe it would be interesting to play with. |
The black and white tv is gone, and the finish looks bad. It's worth about 30 bucks as is.
|
It's going to be an albatross, odds are you'll never find the TV for it.
I'd run away. Takes up way too much more valuable space. . |
Yup...run far, far, away...

Great, that's one logistical nightmare I can avoid!
I'd love to find a European made tube TV one day though. |
All wrong!:D
This set is not an Albatross, it is a Phoenix!:thmbsp: I saw this luxury console only once in my life. The radio scale is telling me that it is officially exported with FM up to 108 MHz. It is made in 1957/58, not younger, not older. Is it 21" or more? I have the same chassis in a fridge size console with doors, didn`t came with radio, record player and tape recorder. Try to get it for 20 bucks!:ntwrthy: The biggest investment should be the cabin work.:scratch2: Don`t be foolish, if you are a collector you have to decide if you collect mainstream, what everybody else is doing, or you collect what nobody else owns.:thmbsp: That`s my way of collecting! The standard console with this chassis turns up here in Germany time by time. Value is low, 50-100 Euros. It is a life chassis, no heavy power trans, so shipping of the chassis with yoke isn`t too expensive. Sure you have 21"/90° CRTs with ion traps in dozends available! And think at the bright shiny eyes of your wife when you bring this new german family member home! :pistols: :lmao: I can help you with free schematics and alignment/conversion info! Regards, TV-collector :stupid: |

If you can find me a chassis I'll go for it. There is a snow balls chance in hell I'll find a chassis for that here in the states....I worry about a foreign chassis though since I don't know if I can feed a CCIR set with the NTSC sources I have, or the beat up multi standard VCR I have in pieces waiting for repair. Morons who own it wanted $200 for it till my friend pointed out the TV portion is missing. |
200$?
It will be a keeper for them. Maybe they want it for the shipping with 4 men.:yippy: I keep my eyes open. You need a tranformer for 220 Volts or you use the american way to double voltages in life chassis. Changing to 60 cycles is no problem, R/C change. There are modulators available, or you sweep circuits. But after 60 years you have to do this anyway. This 9 Volts DC set is common among european collectors. https://www.reichelt.de/?ARTICLE=132...FcHGGwodMT0GQA I keep my eyes open for you and let you know. Maybe your parents like to add an additional room to the house. Regards, TV-collector :stupid: |
Hi!
Do you still want a clean Chassis? I can send you a link and could be able to disassamble and ship the Chassis from a console. Best regards, TV-collector P.S. PM not possible: Electronic M has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space. |
If you click on my username there should be a send email option...I need to check with the person that tipped me off about it and see if it is still in the junk shop he saw it in.

They have the Euro style mask, where the CRT protrudes past the mask. |

My friend can't remember where he saw that Aircraft carrier console anymore....IIRC last year he told me they wanted crazy money for the condition it is in, and I'm not flush with cash (cash that is not destined for the ETF)... |
