$5 Admiral

I found this set at a garage sale in Phoenix yesterday. Hopefully the crt isn't shot but I figured it was worth a $5 gamble. I found an add online that dates it around 1964. In good cosmetic shape as well.

hard to go wrong with 5$, best deal I got was a CTC-12 for free (traded some yard equipment that was going to get thrown away). My surprise was the MISSING flyback, but other than that it was ok. Good luck with your recent find.

Wow. That was a steal. Some cataracts, but the CRT may still be OK. Great score.

I see it doesn't have UHF. I wonder if it has the first Admiral chassis.
A great find, just the same.

That's a handsome looking set! Five bucks? Hell yeah! Looking at the control layout, I would guess a CTC12 or 15 clone. Hopefully you'll find a healthy CRT.

zenithfan1 03-18-2013 08:39 AM

Great score! But, I think it was way too expensive:D

Excellent way to spend $5.00! Nice Admiral, what is the model and or chassis number?

Hey..Its a Roundie, it has a GOOD chance of being brought back to life instead of ending up bein' Fishtanked or in a Landfill...What's NOT to like ?!? Besides, maybe some "Civilian" will see it in its restored glory, & become a convert to OUR little Divine Madness.. 2013 people just LOVE seeing WORKING ancient TVs.. I LOVE showin' off my 1949-50 12" Zenith Porthole to slack-jawed kids, who've likely never seen a B/W TV or at least, one that BIG..Yes, Virginia, we DID have TV back in those prehistoric times...

azbigsam 03-18-2013 11:15 PM

The model # is L1311
The chassis # is 24A2
I'll take some pictures with the back off and post them.

That is simular to my admiral , very simular , its a ctc-12 clone , mine is chassis 25G6 , so yours is older ? is that how the model numbers work ? my sams says 1963 so you are around that area , perhaps 62 ?

Um that is a nice looking Admiral roundie.

I am just wondering what is the chassis looks like?

Hope to make a picture of it

Good Luck!

BigDavesTV 03-19-2013 08:42 AM

Thanks, AZbigsam, for providing the model number and chassis number, we'll look forward to more pictures as time permits! Very nice Admiral.

I always liked most Admiral color sets, and am happy to see that one more beat the dump! Re-did a 25 inch Canadian Admiral for a sister-in-law, and she took it to college for 3 years. Then it stayed in the family for another 4-5, when the CRT bit the dust, and it was junked. I wasn't around to save it a second time :tears:.

Good luck with that handsome roundie!
