6RP22 tube

Hi,
Is anyone familiar with the 9 pin miniature 6RP22 vacuum tube? I couldn't find any specs for this tube, online. The ones I have were manufactured in Japan for Sylvania/ GTE. Were they used in Sears sets ?

Not much, but this is the only pinout that I have found for this miniature power pentode.

Thank you jr,
That's just what I was looking for.
Last week an ARF member gave me a Motorola 17K1BA set. As my son and I were about to load up the set he asked me if I would take some old tv tubes he no longer needed. I thought it was a small box of series string tubes. It ended up being probably over 500 NOS tubes in over 6 boxes. Mainly 60's and 70's types.

And here I was expecting it to be a tiny color CRT with the P22 phosphor.

Me too. I wondered how they would pull that off with just 9 pins!

Properly called a 6R-P22, this is one of the Japanese "JIS" types that was used by Sears/Silvertone and others in the 1960s.

It doesn't have a direct EIA equivalent that I am aware of, as some of the JIS types do.

Correct !
They were used in the very first Jap sets. Soon they went to normal numbers
& used mostly common US designed tubes.

About 15 years ago, I was at an old radio meet or a hamfest, and someone who sells tubes had loads of these tubes, Sears branded (or they may have been 6R-SP22). The dealer had no idea what they were for.
I looked at the tubes closely, noting the shapes and spacing of the grids, and told him I thought the tube might be similar to the 6CL6 (broadband power pentode), but by no means necessarily the same base as a 6CL6.
