Predicta Debutante restoration

I got a pretty good Christmas present this year - a Predicta Debutante in black with original stand :)

It is in very good cosmetic condition and was a reasonable price - especially for coming from an antique store.

Here are some preliminary photos. I have not taken a look in side or tested the CRT yet.

Here it is in the shop.

Now at home in the garage.

I found this sticker on the side.

That's a nice-looking set. I'm looking forward to see the progress!

Nice find Bob. It's just about in the condition of mine. The stands metal parts have a very thing gold electroplate that comes off easily with any abrasive. It's interesting that yours is a typical brown/black color, yet was apparently a "hotel" model with that sticker and antenna delete. Normally those are ID'd by the cream-colored cabinets.

I've got an identical set sans back and stand that came out of the Chicago area as well...one of the hotels must have liked black.

Now that you mention it, the one I restored a couple years ago was black too

Here's a first look inside. Aside from the tubes, it might be all original. Hard to tell with all the dust.

The 17DRP4 came up into the green after a few minutes :) Good cutoff response too.

I decided to throw caution to the wind and try a power up with a Sencore PR57 set to 117 VAC.

Tubes lit up right away.

After a short while, I heard the speaker crackle and a raster appeared. The vertical slowly grew a bit. I suspect B+ is low due to leaky power supply caps.

Rotating the tuner would cause some video and audio noise, but couldn't tune anything in

Once I get a couple projects cleared off the bench, I'll start with replace the power supply components and try another power up.
