Hi
Just joined. I am Mike, I worked in a TV repair shop in the late 60's to earn college money. Most of my career was with professional video equipment at Ampex. I'm retired now. 11 years ago when my Dad was alive he bought me a old TV to restore from a garage sale. 1949 Philco 49-1076 combo set. It sat for 10 years stored in the basement. I decided to see if I could get it going. This set was a challenge, someone decided in the 50's to replace the tuner, and I have NO documentation on that. I managed to rewire that, it was so poorly done, and now that works. It had some bad problems in sync and horizontal sections. That is what I've been up to. Hope to find another treasure to restore. I have many radios I've saved.

Hope to get involved and enjoy this hobby. Picture 1 is the first good video on the work bench, the 2nd in cabinet. --mike

KWGN signed on in 1952 and was the first tv station here, so it must be rare to find such an early set, such as yours from the 40s. Looks good.

Hi Mike, Good work on your Philco
Ampex? I guess you were probably in Colorado Springs
I also worked for Ampex, 4 years in Europe and then moved to RWC (with one year in Cupertino)
