Got a Car Radio Question

This might be a `slightly' OT question, but maybe someone can direct me to an appropriate 'antique car radio' forum. Basically, a '41 Buick radio has a 3-gang tuning capacitor. Is the IF gonna be 262.5 Hhz (per the later radios with permeability tuning)? Or is the IF 465 (455)Khz?

I'd say it will be 262 KHz. Practically every car set I've worked on used it.

Thanks. That's what I was assuming. But a neighbor here is saying that since there's a tuning condenser, the IF will be 465, and it wasn't changed to 262 until they went to slug tuning. I think he's full of beans, but it's got me second-guessing it now. Been doing a lot of Googling, but can't find any definitive answer.

I looked back at some old Rider's 1938 for United Motors GM's supplier and they all used a 262Kc with capacitor tuning too. I repaired some Lasalle radios over 20 yrs ago, couldn't remeber the I.F.
