Sexy Test Equipment Tool

Neat!
Now, if they had one that identified vacuum tubes... :D |
You're just seeing these NOW?
I've had one since at least 2018 (I've broken 2-3 from accidental falls). Shango and numerous VKers have been using these for years. They're good for working on SS gear. I use mine mostly for ESR tests, checking pF caps below what my Heathkit C3 can accurately measure, inductors, and for checking PN junction based parts with 3 terminals or less and identifying parts I don't feel like searching datasheets for. Not sure what's sexy about a PCB with a LCD and a single button... Unless there's some hidden Easter egg to get naked ladies to dance on that LCD screen. :D I know there's a calibration mode easter egg that appears if you short all 3 terminals and push the button... |
I’m on number 3 since 2016... they can be destroyed by voltage across the terminals. Be sure the capacitor to be tested is completely discharged before testing.
Very useful device.:thmbsp: jr |
These are fun, cheap and really handy. Problem is most of them will require you to find an enclosure.

Thanks for the info. That's the first time I had ever seen one of those.
I'm still old school here. One of those vendors on Ebay has a clear plastic case for them. |
I've had one of those for a while. Very handy, especially for identifying unknown parts. Wish it had a higher test voltage available for testing zener diodes, though...

Been meaning to pick one of these up.

Bit late to the fray here. These cheap Chinese Arduino based testers; great for what they are - ie. cheap - but accuracy testing passives is not great (one of my 2 tested worse than 20% on R, C and L testing). Might be possible to calibrate, but who knows how? The Peak Atlas testers are nowhere near as cheap but quite accurate and doesn't misidentify 3-lead semis like the Chinese one does. For something cheap ($20) and more useful than you might expect, get a Uni-T UT116C SMD/tweezers meter. Fairly accurate, tests zener diode breakdown voltages, flash LEDs in circuit, single-handed in-circuit voltage measurement.. and great for verifying through-hole and SMD resistor values..
