I'll hafta "watch" that...just for fun. I did once have "one of those" style sets, but gave it away long before this collecting thing started. I probly should have one of this style just so I have it. I'm not really all that big on these "long" cabinet small sets. There just doesn't seem to be anything that stands out in their engineering like something REAL small...or uses a high deflection CRT allowing the set to be a "cube".

Having one that is NEW would be nice though

Another one of those so-called give-aways, that didn't include an A/C adaptor.
The people never used them if they had to order the adaptor. IIRC, the adaptor kit was something like $29.95. It came with an A/C adaptor and a D/C power cord.

I keep having to remember that Diesel. Most of the little "Jellybean" sets I get seem to include a 12VDC inverter of some sort, but have gotten some before without it.

I make it a point when I goto the swap meets to go through those big TANGLES of wall warts looking for 12-14VDC wall warts of around 1000mA. I get two or three of 'em for like five bucks and just keep 'em around for stuff that shows up without one....or to use one on a workbench. That barrel connector is quite generic and pretty easy to just eyeball.

I usually keep around a collection of 6V, 9V and 12v wall warts....and even a few of those crappy little "bunch of voltages and connectors" ones. Those actually tend to be REAL dirty though and not much good for anything but a workbench. I'll sometimes use one of those in a "variac" fashion and bring something up SLOWLY from the 3V setting up to the rated voltage if I'm iffy about polarity or the device burning up.

I wonder if they rented the timeshare when they got the TV.......:thmbsp:

I have one of the "Bentley" sets NIB, it's a pretty boring set really.

It would cost more to put new Alkaline batteries in it than it's worth. :)

Yup...sorta figured that, and DO see them QUITE often in thrifts, but have always passed 'em up.

I'll watch this one....see if I can get it, and then I'll have one :-P

Probably not! :D
I heard many of the people that went there, didn't stay for the sales shtick and just grabbed the TV and left. :boring:

I've often wondered at what kind of person would be attracted to one of those seminars where thay gave away TVs...I'd guess for most of the last 30 years or so, virtually ANYONE who wanted a TV has/had one...And if you have an IQ higher than room temperature, you likely realised that what they were giving away to everyone in attendance was NOT going to be a very primo set..

That is like 30+ years ago when they were giving those Bentley TV's out.
They were highly useful back then. Most people wanted them for the children's room.
