Sony DNW-A25 - clearing NV-RAM error

Today I acquired a Sony DNW-A25 portable Betacam SX VCR. While it works and plays, it's displaying an Error 96 SY NV-RAM error on the display, obstructing the playback. Anyone know how to clear this error, or otherwise resolve it? I tried powering the unit off and on while holding the Reset button, but that didn't change anything.

Thanks!

Might help to post a picture of it so we don’t have to search the web to see what it looks like and is.

Google is giving me a few hits where a used one is giving the exact same error.
Coming over from the computing world, might there be an internal battery (no not the main battery) being used to store settings in nonvolatile memory? I've seen a lot of things flat-out refuse to operate unless a good battery was present to it could initialize, otherwise a power cycle or even a reset would make it lose its settings.

I know in the Betamax world that the SL2000 and the SL2500 had a nicad (I think) battery that would keep the memory to the clock and the 4 event timer programming in place if main power was last. The backup battery was supposed to provide 5 to 10 minutes of backup. Maybe this deck had an internal battery that is now dead and the memory error is due to that issue.

I remember that the big SX decks did have a RAM battery living on one of the boards. It was a small black square with pins that plugged in. Not sure about the portables. When they went south they threw an error.

I regret not updating this thread sooner. I did solve the issue. On one of the cards inside the unit, is a rectangular yellow "snaphat" battery. The battery is still made, and replacing it solved the issue.

This is the replacement I bought:
