Digially stored NTSC files and playback?
 

He all i'm looking for an education. I want to playback old tv shows in my two Sony portable Trinitrons. I would like to use something like an old WD TV with stored files , output on its composite output and then thru a Modulator.

Is this doable and is anyone doing something like this?

barring that I suppose i could just buy the DVD's in ntsc format and use and old dvd player but i'd rather have the programming stored on a hard drive.

I would buy through Amazon so I could return it if it doesn't do what I want.

WARNING: If you plan to use this for converting over the air programs, get a DC blocking connector for the antenna input. I have a similar one that defaults to 12 volt antenna power ON (even though you are supposed to be able to set it to permanently OFF), which will smoke a non-powered antenna or the unit itself.

Walmart has a box similar like that amazon box.

They have a Core Innovations box for about $45 bucks in store..
I have one here and it works great through comp output and RF output..

Its also a DVR that records from its DTV tuner only.

Just put videos on the thumb drive and it will playback like a VCR..

I play classic TV shows and music shows downloaded from Youtube and other video sites via JDowndownloader on my TV's...

Nice watching classic shows like The Mod Squad,The Waltons ETC on the TV then the computer monitor..

Another option is to use a PC with HDMI output (Display port and DVI can be adapted to HDMI with a passive cable because the other 2 standards were based on DVI) and adapt HDMI to AV or RF...The nice thing about this method is any modern signal source device will have HDMI for the foreseeable future so this is relatively future proof.
Some older computers and graphics cards still support S-video...I built a new windows 10 machine in early 2019 and was able to make an OLD S-VIDEO capable graphics card work on it... Windows 7 would have supported the card better, but the motherboard didn't support windows 7(much to my dismay).
