Here's my version of the original photo....I used nothing more than the lowly Microsoft Photo Editor...clicked on "Image" and then "AutoBalance" and finally saved it.
Anthony (sure wish I could be there!) |
I used ACDSee edit feature, either way post more of what went on.
|
I'll have some shots and a group photo of AK members sometime tomorrow.

More Ohio
Good speakers today. John Trenouth from British Museum gave a informative and funny show, Pete Fasciano of Avid 's story about test patterns and TV history well done German TV and Italian Tv was covered, lots of interesting stuff was sold. The dinner and social was good and someone took a pix of all Audio Karma attendees and it was most of the room. A real good time.

Some of the TVs being sold at Early TV convention.
More pictures when I get home. |
What flavor is the set with the silver CRT protector thing? Interesting shape to the top of the cabinet.

Anthony, I beleve that is the 16" version of the RCA 2T51, maybe a 6T51?
Like this one but larger: |
I went away with the Zenith next to it and the Admiral across from the Zenith. Unfortunately you can't see with the 45 player in the way, but the Admiral has an AM radio (sliderule dial) between the knobs. Pretty unusual. Also got a 1953 Crosley with UHF center knob.

It was an international flavor this year, with presentations on television history from around the globe:
http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32401&stc=1 Gerhard Bauer spoke about a 441 line mechanical scanner and early magnetic tape sound recording in German Television (and in the process, singlehandedly destroyed the myth of the humorless German!) http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32402&stc=1 Alex Magoun spoke on RCA's Transfer of Television Technology to the Soviet Union (destroying the myth of the humorless PhD / librarian.) http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32403&stc=1 And John Trenouth brought a bit of British humor (sorry, I meant "humour") to middle America in "Alexandra Palace and the birth of BBC Television" http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32404&stc=1 Here's a shot of David Carlstrom, who's presentation was "Dot Sequential Color" http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32405&stc=1 Robert Lozier treated the crowd to a "History of Television Development in Italy" |
And some more photos...

Here's Dave Johnsons awesome display of camera tubes. http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32407&stc=1 And Peter Yanczer demonstrated scanning disc and mirror screw sets. http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32408&stc=1 It was hard to get a good shot of the mirror screw image with a digital camera or a video camera. Maybe someone got a better one? Seeing this in person was a thrilling experience. http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32409&stc=1 Peter Fasciano talked about 100 Years of Test Patterns and China Dolls and the amazing restoration work he performs to bring the old test patterns back to their original glory. http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32410&stc=1 And Darryl Hock gave the group an update on the ongoing evolution of his "NTSC-to-Darn-Near-Everything" standards converter. |
And finally a few more shots

Our host, Steve McVoy at the controls of the audiovisual playback command center. http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32412&stc=1 Jerome Halphen and David Winter were contenders for the long distance award this year, traveling to Hilliard, Ohio from Paris, France. http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32414&stc=1 Who needs to spend money on a health club membership when you can volunteer at a television auction? http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32415&stc=1 And just unloading the trailer can be a lengthy adventure: quite a few of this seller's sets were gone before I took this picture. http://audiokarma.org/forums/attachm...id=32416&stc=1 And in an apparent fit of narcissism, here's a picture of me in front of the Andrea I brought to the museum last year. Once Steve brushed off all the spider webs, polished it up a little, and cleaned out what I'm sure must have been a shop-vac full of mouse fluff inside, it doesn't look half bad! I didn't get to take a shot of the AudioKarma Class of '05 group photo, can't wait till a copy gets posted here! These are low res copies of some of the photos I took. I'll post full res copies at www.njarc.org soon. Don't forget that copies of the last year's Convention proceedings are available on DVD from the museum. I'll have the 2005 DVD ready as soon as I get a round tuit. |
The AK group shot

It took two shots to get everyone in attendance. I had the camera set to the wrong shutter speed and I did have to lighten it up a little.
