You could start with the Beitman's index or Sam's number. I've been meaning to add a page to my site about this, but...

Beitmans (1928-1965) online at http://www.eskimo.com/~p0lez1/beitman/beitmanhome.htm

Download the index and check which volume it's in.

Sams index: http://www.samswebsite.com/photofact/pf_search.asp

Darn! I lost the page which had a list of Sams number vs. year.

Also, check the caps (esp. electrolytic cans) for manufacturer date codes - usually in the form yyww like 5426 - June '54 (they often updated their stmps quarterly, so you'll see a lot of 13, 26, etc.)

Tom,

Nice website! I like the job you did on that little 6BQ5 SE stereo amp, especially the second version.

Tom, Thanks for the info. I had forgot about Sams Photofacts as a source for dating these old radios. I visited and bookmarked your website and thought it was great. I attached a photo of the types of old radios I like. A GE 431 Musaphonic and Zenith 7H820 with the old 42-48 MHZ FM band that I recently restored. They are not rare or anything but I enjoy repairing and collecting these old radios and they are cheap.

I found the site with the Sams list by year - it's at http://terrell.150m.com/

So my Fisher 800C, in #1037, would be 1969.
