My Collection (as of today) and thank you! :-)

Hello, everyone,

I just wanted to share with you my portable transistor TV collection as of today (see attached pictures). Thanks to information and help in this forum, I was able to get many of these sets (some of which were totally dead on arrival) to work.

All the TVs in the top row are functional (except for the little Casio) -- this summer, I will rig them to turn on with the rest of them. The LCD, Watchman, and very small CRT collection also all work except for one of the Panasonics that has a lot of corrosion damage from battery leakage. :( I just didn't turn them on.

Thanks for all the help you guys have given me. :) I really enjoy my collection.

That looks fantastic. The shelves with their floating design are just perfect for your TVs. I love seeing an organized well laid out collection. You should be very proud!

Very nice collection. What is that set in the first image, third row from the top, second from the right, between the pink Sharp and the Sony KV 5200. It is all black and looks like a black and white set similar to the KV 4000.

goat1981 10-09-2016 12:54 PM

Thanks for the kind compliments. :)

etype2, that is a KV 4000. It's sitting on its battery pack holder, which is black. It's just a bad cell-phone picture that makes it look strange.

etype2 10-09-2016 02:55 PM

Okay, I see it now. Thanks.

Nice collection, well displayed, thanks for posting, gives me some ideas about displaying my tiny sets. (Many walkman sized sets are just in a file box)

Do I spy a Sinclair (UK) on the middle shelf of the second pic?

Electronic M 10-09-2016 05:43 PM

What is that big screen sony-ish looking color set left of center on the bottom shelf?

Yes! It works, too. I took out the leaky rechargeable batteries and did a partial recap. A relatively dim but clear picture. :)

And yes, Electronics M, that is a Sony KV-9000U.

Thanks again, guys!

A wonderful display!

DavGoodlin 11-14-2016 08:40 AM

That KV-9000U is an appropriate upper size limit on that fine collection

Can you imagine how much money was spent on these items, originally?
Unfortunately, I'm not one for that great of organization. :sigh:

WOW! Maybe I should start small.....I've got just 4 sets, all biggies.....

Absolutely jealous. In awe....

Cheers,

You're only missing the 8" Trinitrons (KV8000 & KV8100), and the KV5300.

Looks great. I envy that you have the ability to power them on all. Mine are functional but only display, as I have no way to power them up on the shelves, so I keep all their cords bundled up and put away.

goat1981 01-03-2017 02:43 AM

Thanks for the kind comments, guys. :)

I have a KV-8000 in the basement that I sometimes (rarely) watch. It's a nice set! I haven't found a 5300 yet, but I am satisfied with the size of the collection now.

The KV-5000 I have is the one I bought from you. :-)

Happy New Year to everyone!

Haha that's right!

I am glad to see that little set got the love it deserved. It looked like hell on ebay. It was very dirty when I got it. But it worked and cleaned up really nice. When I first turned it on, it only displayed a green line, then it spread out to a full raster and came to life with all colors. I think when I turned it on, it hadn't been turned on in an easy 25 years.

I ended up finding another one that the seller had no idea what it was, and had no cord. 20 bucks and some change for shipping, it's a mint condition low hours set!

Are you using the one I traded you for the Philco radio? A great daily-driver! :thmbsp:

Goat 1981, how are those all powered. You have no AC outlets showing. For that matter are you transmitting something they all are picking up on a VHF channel. Very impressive display. Cudos

snelson903 10-18-2017 01:08 AM

very very nice display of different models ...

Sandy G 10-18-2017 05:38 AM

Me LIKEY !!..I have one of the little Panasonic 1.5" color sets, & I also had a camcorder, carried all that rigamarole around, my buds thought I was Nutz, but they enjoyed seeing themselves on COLOR TV...
