Unknown year General Electric YM-E

25" console powers on. No screen or audio. Just the channel display and gun lights up. No smoke or odor. Also wondering what year this one is.

Mid to late 70's Look for 4 digit date codes on large parts.
GE is like Zenith. You need to be sure the S-cap is not a white one.
A bad one can blow the HOT, FBT & Vert out.
Look around, it may have a 'mini manual" in there.
Its dead so should be easy to fix.

That customers service information behind a plastic cover on the back is missing. It shows where it should be stored but not there 😔

Man, that's a flashback. Aunt had one of those for 10 years - very similar to this one. Nov. '78 build, and the channel readout was not a real LED. VIR, of course. Guessing this one is a year or two newer.

If breaker is tripped, would the gun and channel still light? I doubt it but who knows.

Most 60s color sets the breaker was between the B+winding and the B+ rectifiers so if the breaker tripped you'd loose everything except the heaters and dial lamps.

Learn something everyday, lol. I'll look for the s cap tomorrow. Supposed to rain so I'll be in most of the day.

I checked breaker today and it just pushes in and back out. I've included a pic of its position. I broke my glasses the other day so seeing anything close up is out of the question. Turned set on today and same thing. Just heaters and channel. Turned off for a minute and tried again. This time, I hear it try to start up with kind of a bong sound, but still nothing but heaters and channel, then a foul burning smell so I turned back off. Pulled back but couldn't locate smell origin. I couldn't find the s cap either. I'm including 12 more pics. Hope this helps.

Went down to the dungeon today. Pulled Sams 1949-1

Breaker on sec of transformer & kills the 143 source. PS is
copy of Zenith with the oil cap
S cap is C702 .00155 mfd 1.5 KV P# EP18X137 Its behind
the HOT & a few inches away.

First checks are
Reset breaker.
Check for @143 VDC at case of HOT
" " " 24 VDC at PGRL5 of the little rectifier ( red wire ) board.
For meter GRD use the CRT grounds.

Burning can be a lot of things. You have to go step by step to narrow things down. Usually the FBT or vert module on these & do it without spending $$$
