It's because the website doesn't use https, and nowadays browsers either complain/warn about non-https sites, or refuse to load them altogether.
|
Sounds like a browser problem to me.

Could be a browser problem, however I’ve been using IOS for years on this site without the warning showing up. I don’t see this warning on other sites.
I know being a moderator at an international art website, that when internal changes are made by the Administration, it sometimes screws things up for the users. |

It's not a browser "problem," but rather that the industry is pushing hard to move all websites to https. I'll try not to get too technical, but https is a secure, encrypted protocol that prevents eavesdropping on communications with a website. It's totally what you want for banking, online shopping, & other sensitive communications, but it probably doesn't really matter for an online forum that is open to anyone to see anyway. For better or worse, the industry is driving toward making all websites use https no matter what. Some browsers are getting more over-zealous than others with warning users about "insecure" websites, based solely on the fact the site isn't using https. Recent updates to all the browsers are adding these warnings. |
Unless I'm going to be entering private information I usually ignore those warnings. I don't give two rips if the cafe wifi someplace can see that I'm reading about rebuilt CRTs on VK.

The hacker in the unsecured cafe wi-fi CAN SEE ALL YOUR STUFF, not just VK. He can make a quick copy of all your files almost instantly.
Did you know hackers go through residential neighborhoods with cell phone in hand looking for non password protected wi-fi? |
This site is not any LESS secure than its ever been.....
In July Chrome I read is gonna start trying to scare people also... |

Yes, you're exactly right. It's unfortunate in my view, but the industry at large is trying to eradicate the HTTP protocol, even though there isn't anything wrong with it, in and of itself. It's just not encrypted. |

They are trying to give ppl a FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY saying HTTPS is secure when the elite can still see everything.... IT JUST GIVES THEM MORE CONTROL!!!!
