I lost my cat last Sunday

It will be exactly one week ago this Sunday morning (May 14, 2017) since my 11-year-old cat Kiki passed away. (She apparently died in her sleep.) It took me completely by surprise, as she was an indoor cat and I wasn't expecting to lose her so soon (I had hoped she would have lived at least a couple more years, as she was doing so well for her age).

Next month I will look at the animal shelter here in Lake County, Ohio for another cat (I don't want to rush into anything, which is why I am waiting), but of course nothing will replace Kiki and her wonderful nature.

I had her for eight very wonderful years (I got her when she was just three), and she left me with the proverbial ton of very nice memories.

All our cats are well-along in years. My cat is still frisky as is my son's. My brother's is showing his age. I don't look forward to their demise. They're all good boys and highly intelligent (probably more than me!).

Jeff.....sorry for your loss. Cats (and other pets as well) are part of the family, and it's hard to lose them. :tears:

Sorry to hear about your loss of Kiki Jeff.I'm still struggling over the loss of Buttons since last August.Pets are family too. She's now up on the Rainbow Bridge making friends and to meet up with you later on.I'm still catless .Soon I will get another cat.

Very sorry to hear of your loss...glad that you are going to get another.

Years ago, some friends of ours after loosing their first cat, decided to never again to go through the grief cycle and never got another pet. IMHO, a very bad decision. We remember, we recover, and it is nice to have another pet to share its life with us.

I STILL miss "The World's Meanest, nastiest Doberman", & he's been gone since 1993..

OMG! I'm so sorry to hear that! :( I lost my Spunky at 17 last October and it is so hard to take when we lose our furry family members. My prayers go out to you and I'm glad you;re getting another one soon.

Junior was actually a very sweet natured dog-he basically wanted to be loved by EVERYBODY. And y'all will laugh about this, but anyone who thinks dogs can't talk just never was around the "Right" dog. He & I would have long conversations all the time.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've lost two cats and a dog in my lifetime. For a while I had just a cat, and when he went we went nearly two years without a pet, which was the first time I ever didn't have any. We have another dog now, and had for about three years already. At first I tried not to get attached because I didn't want to face losing another pet, but now I love her like the others before. I do still miss my cat at times though, been thinking a lot about him lately.

Yesterday afternoon, I had to have my 19 YO Spooky put down. I took six weeks to decide when I was to do it. The last few days, she had a hard time getting to the water and food bowls. Yesterday morning, she was laying in the same spot for hours and had very shallow respiration, so I thought it was time, as there was no quality of life anymore.
I have two other cats, both males. I still like the females the best.

Sorry to hear that. Always difficult when they near the end. She's in a better place now.

My son's cat Sarak has quickly taken ill and may not last the night. We think it could be cancer. We all loved that cat and when he goes we'll sorely miss him!!! :-(
