ctc-5 that was on e-bay around christmas

i don't know if you guys remember that tabletop ctc-5 that was on e-bay that had a rough cabinet and i had posted a pic of the neck of the crt that the owner had sent me that looked "chromed" like a booster was on it..anyways.. the winning bidder finally got it and the crt is bad,he is going back to germany or someplace overseas soon and is asking me if anyone rebuilds these tubes anymore here in the usa anymore,as he has to get it done before he leaves..i guess what i am asking for him is ...does anyone rebuild the 21axp22 metal tube?
thanks
terry

Terry,
I've got to call Paul at VDC tomorrow about some FJPs. I'll ask him if he can do an AXP and let you know tomorrow. I know Hawkeye isn't rebuilding them.

Fred,

Yes, I remember that set, especially the CRT neck.

Please let the forum know what you find out about re-building both the axp's as well as the glass ones. BTW, who is VDC?

video display will no longer rebuild a 21" color crt. they did one for me in 2000 and did a great job for $250.00 steve:D

I spoke with VDC again today. I am taking 5 21FJP22s to Dallas late next month to be re-gunned and have a couple of cataracts fixed. Basically this is an experiment I've worked out with them.
They have indeed been out of this for a while but if this is successful they will again rebuild 21FJP22s in Dallas. I'll let you know what happens.
As for the AXPs, they will not do those anymore. They feel there is just too much risk of failure.

FredH,

You're the man! Keep us all posted and good luck.

If they can rebuild the 21FJP22, they should have no problem rebuilding 21FBP22's. The 21FBP22 can be used to replace the 21CYP22 and 21AXP22, with better performance.

Tube update

I’m relatively sure I won’t get any sympathy but I have to postpone my trip to Dallas until later in April. I’m going to Lake Tahoe to do some skiing. Yes, I know, my priorities are all wrong. :-))
