This is one of my two 1961 Philips consoles. This particular one is special, because it came with the original sales invoice dated August, 17, 1961:

I like the parkay floor styling on the door veneer. Real classy!

Did they really put the channel knob all the way back on the side? I've seen that on portables, but most consoles I've seen try to locate it at the midway back to front of the side and usually closer to the top.

Indeed the channel selector is there, on that odd position really close to the back of the TV.

It had to be way back so that it was accessible when the doors are opened and folded back.

I later discovered that one of my aunts worked for that department store chain.

And I have found on Facebook pictures of one of their stores in the same city where my TV was sold. Who knows, maybe the TV was sold on that exact store:

Looks a little like a combination lock on a safe... :D Especially when the doors are shut, so you don't see the CRT.
