Sony Vidmagic troubleshooting

After four reliable years, my runco projector suffered another failure of the STK convergence chips. While I am waiting on parts, I dragged out my Sony Vidmagic index
Single indextron projector. It worked for a couple weeks, now it works for a while, then the picture gradually starts washing out until it becomes fully white. No loss of synch. Am thinking DC is getting though a bad cap somewhere in the video circuitry, after the synch has been removed but before colour is demodulated.

Any second opinions before I tear it open?

There is a post on YouTube that has a simalar symptom as you describe. I just put Sony indextron in the search box. There aren't that many YouTube posts about it. I just saw it yesterday.

That YouTube post was by 12voltvids.
