Panasonic RF-2200 find.

Found this yesterday. I got it for cheap.

A nearly stone cold MINT Panasonic RF-2200. No issues of any kind. Pretty amazing for how old it is. It was in an estate sale. The guy bought it new, and put it away. At least that was was said. Seems plausible considering its condition.

It sounds really great, and so far I am really impressed with the reception of stations. I haven't played with any of the short wave. I'm not sure what I should use for an antenna.

If your near the east coast day or night you should get some SW stations on the internal antennas alone. Midwest night is best but day might get you something. West...I've never been west...

If you want to increase the hits/quality of reception on SW the best thing you can do is put up an outdoor longwire antenna. You just need 50-150' of wire two insulators between the wire and the support ropes, tie the ropes between your house roof and anything tall approx wire distance away, and a piece of wire between the ant and the radio. I had one in florida, and on a multistate SW Ham radio conversation I was listening to it made the difference between hearing a Chicago based ham with 1KW transmission power and missing his 1/3 of the conversation.

West coast. East of Everett WA. I will play with some wire out in the yard and see what happens.

I was given one 7 years ago. On AM/BCB it'll pick up stations from seemingly out of nowhere. It'll bring stations in on top of copious interference. No other portable can top it's AM performance. Shortwave is mediocre and FM overloads like crazy. This radio is so good they use it on Midway Island! I run mine on batteries to cut AC cruft. Runs 4 MONTHS ON 4 "D" batteries!

AND.....it just LOOKS like a radio should. :)

I forgot to mention the analog tuning on AM/BCB is extremely accurate. Tunes within 1 KHz!
