Found a couple of Philco's

I found a couple of Philso Radios today. The owner is holding them for me. He said He wanted around 75.00 for the larger one. Also he had another Philco that was missing the speaker but it looked way diff. Lookes kinda like a Loboy I think its called.

He is an auction that looks alot like the larger radio but its colums were different.

I do the numbers from the back. Can anyone dicifer them for me. The larger one I think would be a prime candidate for a restoration and even the smaller one might be usefull to someone. Thanks for any help.

Well, that set appears to be a 1940 model.....if it has a gold dial faceplate that would probably be accurate to 1939-40.

$75 is a fair price for a set of that vintage, check the model number and I can give you a value. I'm pretty much a Philco expert, so I can help with whatever you need. In this area, consoles are plentiful, and most collectors only want a couple (unlike me, I had 29 Philco consoles at one time!). I've even got an extra Philco speaker here somewhere.

The term "lowboy", and "highboy" refer to sets on legs....a lowboy will have legs less than half the height of the radio, a highboy more than or at least half the height. Mostly referring to late 20s-early 30s stuff.

Not sure if these numbers help but here goes.

Larger one
11 76
Serial # (i think) 71686
some other numbers 401 8COBE121
Speaker # 3614792
Part # 10391A

The only number on the smaller one
L16137

Nah, none of those help.

The model number on a Philco will always be on the sticker that has the tube location diagram. As well, sometimes there will be a model number stamped on the chassis in black ink.

I didnt see anything like that. I will go back and shoot some pics. Can you tell much from a pic?

I can tell EVERYTHING from a pic, when it's a Philco :)
