1953-ish Zenith Cobramatic radio/phono

Found this on Craigslist. The only thing I noticed was that it is a Cobramatic turntable. It's in a bakelite tabletop cabinet, and is full of rats nests... packed.

The seller said it was just a phonograph. When I opened it up, I found the little radio tuner system in there... under all the rat nesting. Typical AC/DC tubes, etc... 35W4, 12AV6, 12BE6, etc...

Turntable is a wreck. I need rubber parts. I think the number on the turntable is C-1405. This would be a job for Voice Of Music, would it not?

The paper label with the tubes and model number is eaten away.

Found a stamp with the 1953 printed on it.

I'll take pictures, somewhat, tomorrow. I got cold outside working on it.

Gave $25 for it. Decided when I got home that I'd been had, somewhat.

I've already freed-up the changer mechanism.

It has a needle cartridge in place. Astatic 110, I think.

Bruce-Is this the big "Voluptous Curves" bakelite unit ? My granny had one, it died in the Sixties & got thrown out..If I only knew then what I know now...

I'll do my best to find out something. The Cobra turntable looks like it is suspended in an open cabinet with no visible support. Interesting looking... Gonna rinse the cabinet out tomorrow. Really has an aroma right now...

You asked... here they are. It's not pretty. It's vastly cleaner on the outside than it was last night.

It's got damage. I kinda want to restore the changer, but not this radio/phono.

The stylus must be OK. It looks good under close magnification

This Cobra is identical to one I had years ago that was in a Zenith 21" set with radio controls up top, and a slide-out Cobra changer below the TV. My dad GAVE it away, and I was not happy at all.
