Is it a battery and ac set? Looks as though that green thing is a battery.

If its got an AC cord too, its probably just in need of some power supply work. Alot of these portables had selenium rectifiers in them. I had an admiral portable with a similar setup. Replace the selenium rectifier with either a bridge rectifier or a diode and a dropping resistor, then power up and see what happens. Do the tubes at least light?

It's a Bajazzo 56, but I wouldn't know what to do with a schematic, to be honest. I know how to plug something in, hook things up to it and turn it on, but that's about it. I'd offer the booger up for sale, but I really don't know what it's worth. The six buttons are labelled FORTE LADEN LW TW KW & UKW. It's definitely from Germany, the two papers gluet to the inside are in German. I'll post pics of those soon. It has a european plug, but there's an adapter on it for US plugs.

Be aware that battery tubes like these don't light up like regular (indirectly heated) tubes. You might be able to see something in a dark room, but other than that you won't really see anything light up.

I plugged it in last night, the tubes don't light up, but there wasn't any smoke or smell. If there's anyone in the NY area that may be able to fix this, please let me know. Also, this is both plug-in AND battery.

It may be designed for 240 volts AC...a lot of the time though there is a voltage change switch for U.S. use.

There is a voltage disc in the back, it's set for 110 volts right now, but also can be set for 240 and 110. I need someone local or semi-local for this, but will also give the german guy an e-mail. I'm just afraid of the shipping cost to and from florida plus the risk of breakage in transit.

If you send it off for repairs you may want to remove the chassis from the cabinet and just send the chassis as that way you won't risk the case being broken.
