Sigh... my tv may have died.... Sylvania

OK - i screwed up. I had my 1971 Sylvania Console on in the game room and walked off for a few minutes... got caught up in house work and left the house... A few hours later i came back and realized i had left it on...
Now there is no picture at all....
No clue what happened. Nothing at all comes on the screen.
The sound works fine so i know its still getting power - etc...
But being a true novice here still.. I have no idea what to look for.
I have a tube tester and i guess i can check those - but that only tells me if the filament is good....
She is the TV thats in avatar signature block...
Very upset to be quite honest... after spending over 400 dollars to get her running and working... i am kind of bent....
:tears:

Quick, get a neon light voltage tester. hold the leads in the middle, not the end.
Put the lamp end next to the hor output tube cap, does it light?

BTW- my limited experience with Sylvania involved replacing a few video amp transistor collector load resistors. What is your chassis, a D12?

If the neon test dave described shows light (it may sound odd but a neon bulb placed close to high high voltage AC will light without any electrical connection) then you likely had the HV trippler die. Mine lost the trippler when on...I left the room and a friend was adjusting the brightness when it just died without warning. IIRC a NOS trippler can be had for ~25 bucks on ebay if the signs point to it. If your set is a D16 chassis like mine I can give you the trippler part numbers to look for.

Checking

Gents,
Found a Buddy on our blog that lives close by and is much more experienced than me. Taking my TV to him tomorrow to see what he can do and hopefully teach me. Will suggest these things to him once there and let you know..
Keeping my fingers crossed..
=)
Thanks Yall!
