Zenith console stereo
 

Picking one of these guys up tomorrow for $30. Everything seems to work. Real nice dark solid wood. Legs at the bottom. All the cabinets i ever had sat directly on the floor (no legs). Any idea what year model this is. Will post pics of mine when it gets here.

There is a good chance there is/was a monochrome tv behind the center doors.

Probably one of the higher end models with the nice Belt drive changer.

That is a 1964 mid line model.
The doors on front are just decorative and do no open.

If it's the mid line model, it probably has the VM changer and the separate tuner and SE 6BQ5 amplifier. They actually sounded pretty good. :thmbsp:

Well i go in yesterday to pick it up and she has this funny look on her as she says there was a mis communication between her and her boss. The price is $200. Isit worth that much? A 1964 will have tubes then, right?

I would not pay that much for it.

Where was it at? Some so-called antique shop!
They might've got a lot of response from the ad and thought it was selling too cheap. I hate dealing with some of those BIMBOS! :thumbsdn:

Thats way too much for an unrestored unit. Test out the record changer, if it doesnt fully work, make an offer.

I paid about $150 for a 1964 Motorola with 23 original tubes and 11 speakers, but I checked it first and its VM record changer worked, just the cabinet needs some TLC, so it was used consistently and probably gently.

Unfortunately a few lucky folks have gotten a few hundred bucks for the tubed consoles, which causes others to assume they have a goldmine.

I got an 1964 Admiral very similar to that Zenith in a bit rougher shape for $50.
But it had most tubes replaced and needed recapped. It still has an issue in teh FM discriminatr.

Its one of those so-called christian ministry thrift stores. Their just as greedy as everyone else.

Imagine getting something free, then getting $50 for it, as is, without so much as a polish.

Then one of us buys it, invest $50 in parts like capacitors, a stylus and maybe idler wheel, a couple bucks worth of DeOxit, then spend a lot of time cleaning it.
We cannot go lower than $150, knowing we will stand behind it repair-wise, then its too expensive for the would-be decorator or record collector.:sigh:

The greedy ones just think we are flipping it, so they want to be difficult. Well, flip them!

What would be a good price for something like this?

Some might depend on the record changer installed, but $100 is entirely possible. It looks nice enough allright.
If you could get a model number, I have Zenith factory books on these models and the number and type of speakers vary quite a bit.
