Tube Prices

I inherited lots of radio tubes. One box is full of pre-1950 tubes. Are these valuable? How do I find out the value? I was given hundreds of tubes. mostly radio. there were only a few modern audio tubes like 12au7 and 12ax7. Most are larger tubes NOS in the original box. How do I know whether or not I've got something or just a bunch of junk? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for quick reply

Grump, thanks for the reply. No such luck on 2a3 or 300b. Might be some 45 or 245. Just got them and haven't been able to see everything in the boxes. Hope they don't turn out to be all tv tubes. Small market prolly for tv. I like your Kuzma tt. Played any vinyl yet?

The prices at AES are retail prices, so remember that you may have trouble selling tubes for those rates. AES (and others) buy tubes from guys like you, but at a fraction of there list. Well, thats how they stay in business. There are a lot of radio tubes, including some obsure ones from the 30s, which just are not rare enough to be worth much, while some prices are through the roof. But anyway, AES is a good guide, the most complete price listing I know of today, and some sellers will state in their ads "10% off AES" or whatever percentage they want. I think I've only sold one tube and when I did I sold it for AES list because I saw that as my replacement cost, what I would have to pay to fill that hole on the shelf.
