A New Life For An Abandoned Samsung

3 Attachment(s)
Found a little 14 inch flat screen CRT Samsung on the roadside. The cabinet was all cracked up. BUT, the set worked otherwise. After exploring possibilities, I decided to make it into a rack mount monitor.
Being pretty handy I built a frame for it out of plywood and two 2x2's. That wasn't very difficult. Its open air design now, but if you remember years ago monitors and other TV equipment were open air also.
I can always enclose it later.

A rack mount monitor, neat idea! Perhaps I'll do something similar with what's left of my Sylvania Superset. The cabinet was ruined when it was made; trying to restore such an industrial train wreck would have been like trying to restore a car that's completely rotten underneath. I wouldn't put such a thing past the tri-five Chevy crowd though.

That's neat! I have no idea what it's good for, but it's neat!

Well, then... THAT pretty much describes Yrs Trly to a "Tea"...(grin)

I just thought, these would make good arcade monitors for scratch-built machines or even a retrofit into existing machines. The design of the Electrohome G02 arcade monitor chassis for example borrows heavily from the design of my C31 console TV chassis. Naturally it doesn't have a tuner, probably no audio and it has an EHT shutdown circuit in addition to the 4-lead safety cap.
