I bought one of the 14 inchers probably five years ago, at the GW, when they started to accept TV's again. Back then, it was $6.99 and it looked like, they just removed it from the carton. Both TV and remote were immaculate. Built in February, 2004. I've been using it for 6 to 8 hours a day, since I got it. In fact, it's on right now. I see no performance degradation yet. :thmbsp:

Yes and also see where it says "DIGITAL COMB FILTER"

Thats not a true CRT (Not surprising for 2006)

I do not like flat screens!!!!!!! -- One time someone Tried to sell me a flat screen CRT monitor and I did not want it!!!!!!! (I want the traditional screen which is the nicest :))

I got it for free.. Im not complaining.
It's 1 of 2 1990s-2006 CRT TV's I have.

The one I bought, would even meet your approval!
I have a few of similar sets. One JVC 14" and two 20" Toshiba's. The 20's don't seem to have as good of a picture as my favorite 14" model.

Here's a rarity, probably one of the last tube TV's made during this time period. I got this for free from local classifieds.
It has a nice picture even for an SPC TV set (silver plastic crap)

14" flat screen
Made in Thailand
Comes with remote
Rear component input and front RCA composite jacks

Hello Robb.. I have two sets like this.. a 20 ' and a 32"..I can say that they work very fine and I love them. Both have a flat screen tube.. I have them since longtime and I no problems for now ..

EDIT : I now have since a year and a half, a '14 one . The TV is turned on daily at least 2 to 6 hours a day , it depends on my mood and no problems so far. On the other hand, this television was used for video games (by the first owner). Filled with luck, I found a complete circuit of the same model whose rest of the tv had been smashed on the sidewalk. Therefore, I took what was still good.

I can understand your view point, but a CRT is a Cathode Ray Tube...don't forget. a flat screen tube or a round or square tube, all are a CRT !! love it or not, it's a CRT man.... :P

I just picked up a similar Toshiba 14AF44 for $8. Going to use it with an Atari VCS 2600. Made in 2004.

Not one of the last CRT sets, but probably one of the last half decent ones.

Wal-Mart sold cheap Chinese built CRT sets well after the digital transition. They just had digital tuners to comply with the new rules.

It's made at the Korat Denki plant in Thailand, a subsidiary part of Orion Electric. Co, Japan Group. There's also a World Electric plant in Thailand, also part of Orion Group, that operates as a separate corporation.

Of all electronic makers in the world, Orion Electric is by far the most secretive, quietest, and isolated corporation in the whole world. You never ever hear any news from them.

I owned 3 versions of that set --- the 27", the 24" and the 20" sizes. Loved the features and the quality. I regretably sold all 3 a year ago when I "upgraded" to LED TV's. I know my new Sony LED's won't last nearly as long as these Toshibas, and I wish Toshiba was still in the consumer electronics manufacturing business.

Well, you do avoid luma-chroma separation errors.

vertical IC failures were common. I remember seeing screen burns from the set running with vertical being a bit too small. Once the caps and IC were replaced, the screen burns became apparent.
They had heat problems around the vertical IC and it cooked the capacitors.

Probably that you say true but, We have an old model for almost 19 years already and it never stopped working .. I never opened it and I do not know if the tube is brand 'Orion' or 'Toshiba'. As long as it does not stop, I will not open it either. It's a model of the 90s. My wife had it before I knew it.
