I am having trouble finding it:D.. seriously, I think this picture may be from when? 1947?

I can see (and enjoy) the distractions... :naughty:

Yeah, methinks them gals are late prewar or early postwar. They didn't, as yet, have Bikinis as we understand them. IIRC, gals who actually were brave enuf to try one on, faced a LOT of harassment, ESPECIALLY from blue noses who were trying to save us from ourselves.

Do you have a link to the source?

Philco AM All Tube Portable Radio Wood Portable 1946 Model 46-350

Hmm...Ooh yeah, there is the radio.

IIRC Philco offered similar models with different model numbers (and some electronic variations) pre and post WWII. I've got one nearly identical at home with Falk (a local company) stamped on the sides...Philco that is. :D They call that model the roll top.

I'm confused, I see a photo of a blond... must be a Kodachrome, the colour has survived so well!

I love the longer hairstyles woman had in the '40's. Very glamorous. Then they went very short and cropped by the start of the '50's.
That Philco is one of the most common radios ever made. A while back I was almost tempted to get a nearly mint one for under $50. I just couldn't do it even at that price!

No other film has that look. Kodachrome. But they took my Kodachrome away

Sandy G 09-23-2017 12:50 PM

We are likely the LAST bunch who will understand what all them big words mean...They say there are enuf Photography Phreaks to keep things going indefinatively, but I have my doubts.

The overly contrasty bronzed look of the skin tones is why I asked if there was a link to the source of the image. It looks to me like it could have been a print made from a Kodachrome slide, rather than the original slide. A couple of the printmaking processes in the 40s were essentially Kodachrome emulsion on paper, and since Kodachrome was contrasty to start, the print tended to overdo it.

The early print process was called Kotavachrome.
