zenith space command problem

In my space command set, I had to lubricate the pivoting electrical contact that the tuner sprocket pushes to stop the tuner on the disired channel. The tuner was non stop rotating. I used WD-40 to free the contact and now the original contact lubricant dissolved, so there is no longer any protective lube on the contacts. Now there are big elecrical arcs when the contact is pushed apart and is oxidizing them fast! Is there any good substitute lube I can use to eleiminate the arcing? I know zenith recommended a special lube for this, but doubt its still around. any info is appriciated. Thanks-Doug

Doug,

I don't think the contacts themselves should be anything but shiny clean metal. Any oils on them are going to be vaporized by the opening arcover and will burn, converting the lube to a gunky, carbony deposit on the contacts.

Is there any spark suppression device like a capacitor, diode (if DC circuit) or MOV across the contacts that may be open?

Rob
