Semp started manufacturing radios in 1942 and made their first TV in 1953. It is the only TV manufacturer from the early days of television in Brazil that is still in business. This ad is from 1957. And the black and white picture is an original photo from my personal collection where it shows the "Esso Reporter" from one our TV channels in the 1950's watching a program on that same model of TV. The picture is from 1958.

I'd have never guessed any consumer electronics company started in 1942....Most of Europe was deep in WWII, and in America most consumer goods were being taken out of production or diverted/converted to military purposes that year.

Yeah, but in Brazil ( and I believe in Argentina, too ) that period saw a boom on the creation of consumer goods industries, and one of the reasons was precisely the war: no longer being able to import from the USA and from Europe, people had to rely on internal production.
