Ross WorldMaster RE-8000...
Picked up a Ross Electronics Corp, model RE-8000 WorldMaster 8-band radio a while back. First off, it was dirt-cheap (thrift store find!), it was neat looking (has those old shortwave dial charts with "Moscow", "Tokyo", etc), and I wanted to have a reliable battery-powered radio around the house, that I could pick up normal radio broadcasts and/or shortwave/weather radio on.
I'm no expert at these things (it's been years since I've tinkered with one for very long), but I'm impressed with the tuning acuity this thing has. It'll definitely reach out and grab stuff. Anyone else got any Ross stuff hanging around? Regards, Gordon. |
Found a picture of one... mine is black, instead of the brown like the one in this pic; otherwise, it's a dead-ringer.

Ross Electronics also made an all-band receiver in the '60s which was supposed to be a Zenith Trans-Oceanic lookalike. Your set looks to me as if it may be one of those models. Kind regards, |
