Need Service Manual
Hi folks.
I am looking for a service manual for a Sanyo Betacord, Model VTC-5500P. I have the Australian model, but will gladly accept any version that is out there. I have repaired the mechanical issues, but look to have a power supply fault. After I get that sorted, there is much conductive glue to be removed before I tackle any other faults. P.AL. N.T.S.C. SEACAM. Anything will do for now. Full manual or just partial manual. Thanking in advance. Wayne. |

Best I could find, the VTC5000. Hopefully it's somewhat similar. |

I guess that I should have posted a picture of the set.
I got this set recently. I had never seen one before although I had serviced and repaired VCR's for years. Its sloping front panel makes it stand out from the crowd. It appears to be made in 1981. Wayne. |
Close vcrs to this would be the European VTC 5600 and perhaps the American/Canadian VCR 5000/5050 as far as manuals go, hope this helps

Hi. I have the full schematics, parts list, and service manual for the VTC 5600P. But it's all on paper. I might scan them and put them on a pdf file if you want.

Hello Fivos.
That would be wonderful. That does sounds like a lot of work, but if you could send me some scans of the power supply, that might be enough for me to fix this machine. Regards Wayne. |

Hey guys. I just sent the power supply schematics to Wayne so if anybody else needs them, let me know. Anyway, here we have a Sanyo VTC 9455 multi system machine. The mechanism appears to be the same as the 5500/5600 but the rest of the machine is completely different and unique. I've been looking for a manual for this for at least 3 years and haven't found anything. It needs a new capstan motor and a lot of electronic adjustments to be done in the servo and video/chroma circuits. If anybody knows anything about this machine, let me know. All I know is that it was intended for the Saudi Arabian market back in 1981.

Just an update. I spent Sunday afternoon working on the Sanyo. Someone had repaired the power supply sometime in the past. Interesting, there was a hole burnt through the board where the driver transistor for the 12 volt regulator sits.
Because it is so inaccessible, I went right over the power board. I still shudder whenever I find an electro with the name Sanyo on it. Anyway I checked as much as I could and replaced all the caps for which I had a replacement available. The 12 volt regulator now works but now I can see there is much still to be done. Does anyone remember repairing camcorders during the 90's ? Remember the smell of leaking surface-mounting electros ? Yes. The machine has that smell of fish. I will have a look again on the weekend. I have plenty of time. I am working a four-day week because of the China Flu. Thank you to Fivos for the scans. |
