Pix tube brightners

I have a brightner but doesn't fit on my old pix tube socket. Can I wire it in somehow?

You would need a new socket and plug, and then compare basing diagrams to make it work. Should be doable. But...brightners are plentiful. Unless the crt you are working on is something odd, I would just find a correct one. I have spares for the common types.

Another option-you could hard wire what you have, cutting the wires that run to the socket and splicing it in there.

Brightner

I thought all a brightner did was step up via a transformer the voltage to the filament of the pix tube. Anyway it's a 7JP4 tube.

Be careful with the brightners on the electrostatic sets. You can run into complications with motorola series string sets with the ballast tube regulators. If the CRT is dim, there is not too much you can do. I have had tremendously good luck giving the 7JP4 a good rejuvenation session of a beltron CRT machine - however there still has to be some cathode material left to rejuvenate. If someone has already attempted to rejuvenate the tube with an 'atomic blast" CRT rejuvenator it may be a hopeless cause.
