Needing assistance on getting all the info for my RCA CT17AG operating correctly. I know very little about tv repair and hoping to get some help on restoring it. I can't find a model number on this set. Ive included a picture and I'm thinking 1965. This is a rare remote control set and did find a remote on ebay that I hope will operate this set. The remote is a CRK 6A D-1460099-2.
Does this operate on a 3.6 volt battery AA size ?

Welcome! That's an attractive set and I think that date is about right. Numerous parts have date codes on them and you could narrow it down that way.

Thanks Bryan and I did find a serial # 70TH5663 not sure if that is stating its a 1966?

For period service documentation for that set look for a Sam's Photofact for that TV chassis number, and the radio chassis number (Sam's liked to separate the radio info for combos).

The info will not tell you how to troubleshoot/repair the set, but will tell you how it's wired and give you adjustment procedures and voltage/signal info for a properly working set that you can compare to the measurable voltages and signals in the set to find errors.

The following site is chock full of servicing info for beginners, and examples of restorations. http://antiqueradio.org/welcome.htm

These forums also contain a lot good info if you do a lot of reading.

I recommend you fix the audio section first, if it is not working (otherwise get an AA5 tube radio to practice on), since audio circuits are simpler for a beginner to tackle.

the record changer will also be a separate service folder. RCA numbered them, you might have something like a RP-217, or Rp-225. if you can find a number on it (usually underside the metal base) I can probably get you a copy of the service folder.

The Sams for your RCA is 779 folders 3, 3A and 3B The set is a 1965 model that came out in June of 1964. The remote takes a round 9 volt battery, Eveready 206,
but can be modified to use the common transistor radio type.

RCA 1965 tv

Thanks to all for the input on getting this tv restored. Im now looking for the flyback for the ctc 17 , I understand these are hard to find and I did find a ctc 16 with a perfect flyback but im thinking this wont work on the ctc 17 ?
Anybody know where I can find a flyback ?

Thanks Again !

Electronic M 01-26-2016 02:05 PM

The CTC-16 and 17 flys are incompatible. How do you know the current flyback is bad? If you don't know for sure it is bad, then you are 'putting the cart before the horse' in looking for a replacement.
