GE color - St Louis, Missouri

Seems like GE's aren't too common, I can't remember the last time one was discussed here. Is this is a tube set?

Looks SS to moi.

Me thinks its a tube job. Probably the same chassis as the
18" set, all compactrons. Not a long lived set so few left.

I agree from the few sets I've seen GE seemed to go to cheap plastic fronts before giving up on hybrids.

Interesting...the plastic fascia is why I thought it was solid state. :scratch2:

What plastic? I see mostly chrome/chromed plastic...The plastic sets I'm talking about did not even bother to use fake chrome.

My guess was hybrid as well.

I didn't notice that it has a plastic fascia. It looks pretty darn nice in spite of that.

I plan to refit my Heathkit with a metal fascia which is one of very few good parts from a set with a cheap cabinet and a knackered CRT, should give it a more tidy appearance. I cut off part of the fascia with a hacksaw blade and will attach it to the service drawer, there isn't enough room for it to go through.

KEII (KE2) chassis? Tube looks a bit too square for a 25xp22. KeII chassis was a devil to keep going.

This is the same basic set I grew up with, just a slightly different cabinet. From finding them in Sams I believe it is a 1970 model, KE chassis. (The KEII's that I've seen had a slightly different control panel). I wish there was a VK'er around St. Louis who could grab it for me; if it could get as far as the convention then maybe I could talk someone else into getting it the rest of the way. It's on my short list of sets to own.

I will be picking up a TV in St Louis in the near future, but it's a TV that fits in my hatchback. If there's some arrangement involving use of a trailer that can be made (with a couple stops for others?) I might be able to help.

I sent a message to the seller yesterday but haven't received a response. I'll update if I hear back.

looks like a hybrid chassis.i had one back in the early 80s.got it in a trade.had a gte crt and produced a fine picture.the 3a3 went south and i ran it for a few months without it.good set that i traded for a sylvania with a weak crt.
