Sunspot cycle is interesting right now.

At this very moment I'm in Delafield Wisconsin and news radio 106.9FM from DETROIT Michigan is swamping out my local oldies station from nearby Milwaukee...Wild.

Might be a good time to fire up your SW reciever or Ham rig for some interesting DX.

Isn't VHF more affected by storm conditions than sunspots?
When I was a teenager, we once got a Jacksonville, FL TV station on rabbit ears in a second floor apartment in Chicago. Fortunately it lasted through the hourly station break, so it could be identified. Both places were having thunderstorms.

At around 250 Miles THAT would be Tropo. A Temperature Inversion...
