Test Signal Software

Some new test signal software has been made available by Fulvio Cornetta via his website at:
http://www.webalice.it/fulvio.cornet...signalsgb.html
It runs on any computer running W2K or newer. It has a variety of test signals and includes a provision for typing in your call letters, name or whatever.
To get it down to TV rate, you'll need a scanconverter if your PC does not have an NTSC output.
Its very easy to use but most of all, its FREE.

Interestink.

Cool. But if you had an NTSC output... couldn't you just open a picture of the test screen you wanted?
That's what I do.

I know what you're saying. But if you open a jpg in Windows, you get the Windows tool bars at the top and bottom. This soft ware automatically uses the whole screen.
Included in the selection of patterns are bars with circle, flyback bars and the Philips EBU pattern. All of which my Tektronix TSG170 does not display.

Exactly. I plan to use it to calibrate the HD mode over-scan of my HD-CRT Sony which is often used with my media PC. Lack of the windows bars and the type of patterns avail make it the best pattern gen solution for that I've seen yet.

Does the test signal display properly on a 4:3 screen?

*cough*Fullscreen slideshow button?*cough*

Forgot. Under Vista and W7, hitting f11 will take it fullscreen.
There is also a tone generator in it. I'm running it on an old HP N5170 laptop. It has a 3x4 screen. The only reason I rescued it was that it had a TV out on the back.

Nice selection of patterns, but the standard SMPTE bars with PLUGE and the old "Indian Head" are both conspicuous by their absence. Copyright concerns?

I had a problem with the Philips EBU pattern displaying incorrectly on a WXGA (16x9) laptop display but it did display correctly on the old HP 3x4 laptop display.
