Site issue thread. Post your problems here

Until we can get time to create a forum devoted to site issues and questions please use this thread to let us know if you are experiencing any issues.

As of this evening we are aware of the server busy issue and are working on resolving it.

Some have expressed they cannot view photos. We are pretty sure this is not a problem on our end but on the users end. We need more feedback on this to make a more informed diagnose. Thank you

Grumpy

My photo problem has been resolved. It is not VK, but the link that I was using. Needed to use .org instead of .net.

Thanks,
Bill R

audiokarma is closed???

similost 10-21-2009 10:41 AM

I was just gonna ask the same thing...

similost 10-21-2009 10:44 AM

Something else strange too.. I just noticed my Subscriber banner is gone, and my PM box is full, and I know I recently paid up... :scratch2:

jimbofish 10-21-2009 11:05 AM

I think my wife is behind this... seems these things always happen when she's gone and I have the computer all to myself for the day. :D

Three of my AK uploaded photos were lost in the move to VK. I uploaded the one pic that was important and deleted the two posts which were not.

Sam Cogley 10-21-2009 11:54 AM

I lost an entire thread about a Zenith table radio in the move.

AUdubon5425 01-03-2010 02:53 AM

Just for clarification: I was under the impression that all pictures uploaded before the move were lost. (In any case, I can't see them in the old threads.)

I tried re-uploading a "lost" picture in another thread recently and it told me I couldn't because the file already existed on the server.

Am I seeing everything differently? If the old pic exists beyond a hyperlink going nowhere is it "normal" for me not to be able to upload the pic again?

Thanks,

Ryan

grumpy 01-03-2010 08:03 AM

Can you point me to the thread in question ? Thanks

Grumpy

AUdubon5425 01-04-2010 03:36 AM

Sure. For example: http://videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=187889

The thumbnails are gone. On the first post in the thread, if I go into "edit," then "go advanced" it shows the names and sizes of the five images I uploaded back then on AK.

If I try to upload one of those same images into a Videokarma thread, I get a message stating that I already uploaded that picture to the system.

Should I delete the attachments in the original thread?

Ryan

grumpy 01-04-2010 06:11 AM

That is strange...

Yes for now I would suggest deleting the old uploads and try reloading them again. If the problem persists please let me know. Thanks

Grumpy

spartanmanor 01-05-2010 01:08 PM

Just lost a big chunk of today's posts from everyone and when searching for threads I have started I only get 3 back.

spartanmanor 01-05-2010 01:15 PM

Ok, so somehow I see I got over on VideoKarma, so I guess this is why I am not having success finding past threads. Nevermind.

Sam Cogley 01-15-2010 08:32 PM

I can see no photos uploaded by user leadlike. Every one gives me an error screen that says I don't have permission or aren't logged in. Everyone else's pictures are visible with no problems.

grumpy 01-17-2010 07:10 PM

All of the photo are loading fine for me. I will need to find out if anyone else is having this problem.

old_tv_nut 03-19-2010 10:14 PM

I got two emails, one about renewing my subscription to audiokarma and one for here. The audiokarma paid subscription link showed in user CP and I was able to re-up there, but nothing shows here. Does one subscrip cover both?

grumpy 03-20-2010 07:27 AM

When VK was started it was carbon copied from AK. Thats why the subscription notices from both. We have no plans for subcriptions on VK but if you would like to renew on AK please feel free. Thanks

I hope all works out very well. I consider this site to be one of the greatest ever created. I love the guys here for real. Let me know if I can help in any way.

grumpy 06-15-2010 10:39 AM

Thank you for the kind words. I think the biggest thing any of us can do is to spread the word about us. Its hard to tell but I think there are many who believe Audiokarma deleted these forums and still do not know were on the air here. Any help in spreading the word that were right here would be much appreciated. Thanks

Can't delete post on classified ad section

HELP.....please?

I posted some items for sale on classifieds. I sold 3 items. When I read how to delete the post, it said to "edit". After clicking "edit" under my original post, there is supposed to be an option to "delete", but there is none.

Electronic M 11-09-2011 10:10 AM

I beileve that if it is a topic you started that others replied to all you can do is erase the words you your self wrote and and replace them with three of more characters nothing else. You cannot erase others posts, or your thread(though you can edit the wording of your posts). This is done to prevent sabotage, etc.

If all items have been sold you may or may not be able to convince the moderators to delete it for you......

Kamakiri 11-09-2011 07:54 PM

Yeah, we'll take care of it. I'm a pretty nice guy by nature :D

stereorob 12-06-2011 01:41 PM

you could re-instate my membership at the other place grumpy :D
btw uber cool site. so far, no trouble. btw ive mellowed out quite a bit from my hellrazing days at AK.

Kamakiri 12-06-2011 01:45 PM

I don't know what the story was behind your AK debacle, but I hope for your sake that you didn't commit enough deviltry to poke the banning bear by posting it here.....

stereorob 12-06-2011 01:47 PM

wow that didnt take long. and no i didnt. dont worry. besides this can be a very resorceful site. im not gunna risk that. hell, where else would i go the next time i find a cool old tv in the trash?? :D

stereorob 12-06-2011 02:01 PM

i see alot of the mods from AK are here and a few other people i clashed with there
if nothing else, atleast i can bury the hatchet and apologise to them for all the crap i pulled.

Lately, I've been seeing this a lot: The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.

bgadow 03-18-2012 08:59 PM

I got a lot of that Saturday night, I think it was, but it was okay later.

I did as well, for a couple of hours in the evening.

walterbeers 01-02-2014 12:20 PM

Never have had a problem posting on Video Karma. Thanks so much to those who keep the website going.

EdKozk2 03-24-2014 01:46 PM

Hi ,
Is there a time out/ limit to how the VK wesite will stay logged in? When I try to submit a post I get the I'm not logged in error message. Maybe I,m taking too long type, distractions/ honey do list etc.
Thanks,
Ed

Electronic M 03-24-2014 05:17 PM

When you log on check the 'Remember me' box.

Dude111 03-24-2014 09:08 PM

Indeed so..... This was the stupidist thing Vbulletin ever did! (Version 3.5)

So many ppl have had problems after they did this and its sad......

Jon A. 03-24-2014 09:12 PM

I'm almost always logged in, but whenever I decide to clean out my browser I have to log back in twice, regardless of the "remember me" check box. On a side note, VK posting at the library is a royal pain as Firefox is set on private browsing by default and I don't think there's any way to change it, resulting in my getting logged out repeatedly.

EdKozk2 03-24-2014 09:56 PM

Thanks for the follow up, I thought it was just me.
Ed

There's a vBulletin Admin setting for the session timeout. It must be set to something very short like 5 minutes,

You're probably cleaning our your browser cookies. Try just cleaning just the cache instead.

I knew that, I just hose everything rather than going through the trouble of separating the wheat from the chaff. Re-doing my logins once in a blue moon doesn't bother me. A system crash when I was on dial-up, now that sucked as it would wipe out my cache. I haven't had a crash since updating this from Firefox 3.6 to TenFourFox.

VK Forums Access Woes

Hello Mr Webmaster.

On a very old computer (Win 98SE) FireFox V2.xx can't access the forums.
To be more precise, the forum site or a sub-forum never load into the navigator.

This happened previously about 6 months ago, probably a compatibility issue with a forum software upgrade, then worked again after about a 10 day wait.

I am writing this message from an XP machine.

I apologize for requesting compatibilty with a very old clunker but these old tower computers are much more reliable than today's 2-3 year lasting machines.

Thanks! for your help,

Best Regards

jhalphen
