Solid state Zenith 25" Zenith

I have a 25" Zenith TV that still works fine - chassis model 25ec58 TV model E4740W. I have Sam's photofact schematics for it as well. I am in Seattle and wonder if any one is interested.

I hope someone can save it. That's a '74 model and uses the horizontal solid state chassis that physically looks like a tube chassis. Those are very good performers and will serve someone well.

One of the best, most reliable TVs ever built. I still have one that I bought at the Salvation Army Store in '81, and just since I've had it, it's been through a house fire, been moved a dozen times, and been thrown across the room on it's face in the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. Knobs melted off in the fire, and the color oscillator module got knocked loose on it's socket in the quake, but the set still works fine to this day, and of course has a new cabinet & knobs since the fire, and new grille after the quake!

Hello would that happen to be a chromacolor 2? I have worked on alot of those sets in the90s in my friends shop he use to have. what a great television but they were known for having trouble with the trippler going bad all the time atleast the ones that I fixxed had that problem other than that a great set...Timothy

that is the best set ever produced, bar none.wish you were closer

Most of the flat SS chassis sets were labeled as "Chromacolor"; however, some of the later ones (just before they switched to the vertical chassis) were labeled "Chromacolor II". I have a 25" console that's the CCII version that needs a tripler. The sad thing is that I have a tripler for it; but, it would take me two years to get the set un-buried.

Road Trip?

DaveWM 10-23-2012 09:45 AM

Yep, that is a great set, hope you can work out something with sampson. That set will make a very nice pic, and far outlast any other set you will ever find. Hopefully it had the safety cap issue corrected on that model or had the recall fix done. I love my 25DC56 (close to the same as that one), they are built like tanks.
