Predicta Holiday flyback

I pulled wire from flyback to top of tube off,it was tight and when it came off I pulled it off flyback. There is heavy gauge wire going to tube. That heavy wire goes to flyback but looks it is only there to support a real fine wire. The heavy wire has a real fine wire and it looks like the only one actually attached to the flyback That fine wire has an inch or so coming out of the flyback. Would this be repairable? No wires on the flyback have been disturbed as far as I can tell.

Likely can be repaired, being very careful that wire is delicate.

try to resolder it and then coat the repair with black rtv silicone to avoid arcing and provide strain relief

Make sure to use flux as it is hard to clean fine wire like that. But you should be able to repair it. Let us know how it goes.

There's always the handy-dandy 'aspirin trick' for stripping hair-fine wire. Scroll down to post #26 --

(It should work fine for litz wire too.)

I was afraid to try the repair. I did find someone who said he could and he did.

Coot, thanks for reminding me! I knew that trick from long ago but had forgotten it.

IDJ, glad you found someone who could do it. Have you tested it yet?

Yes, been tested and it works, that is the reason I said "and he did"

when i want to clean that type of hair thin enamel wire i put a flat blade scredriver held in place, lay the tip of the wire on top of the screwdriver and with the soldering iron i pass it on the wire while pressing very gently against the screwdriver, i give it two or 3 passes , flip the wire or the screwdriver and repeat. works for me on flybacks, peaking coils and other stuff.
