This is kinda different. Not sure that you can call this a portable. Looks like it should be part of your 1980 stereo rack system!

It is a Panasonic for sure. Really pissah looking set
but worth a C-note ?? One things for sure, you would
be the only kid on the block with one.

It IS for a stereo rack. It is a TV/audio spectrum analyzer, Jim has been trying to sell one at local radio meets in the my area...I've almost bought his on a few occasions.

Buried in the attic is a Heathkit green-phosphor scope which is designed to be part of a stereo rig.

it is capable of accepting line-level audio L and R for display and manipulation on the scope face . Furthermore, it has got a built-in sine-wave tone gen from about 50Hz through 15kHz or so.

Sometimes I bust it out and use it on my main system just for laughs.
This one reminds me of it in a way.

I still have some JC Penney MCS components around. They were top quality stuff at lower than name brand prices.
