What do you have for Vintage Video Game systems?
Ok, tell us what video game system you have or used to have that provided you with hours upon hours of fun time....
I have: Sega Master System, complete with the light phaser, Joystick controller, 3-D Glasses, the Sega "Card" input, and around 100 games, Sega Master System II, Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Genesis CDX, Menacer Cannon with shoulder harness, Sega Saturn-with Orange Pistol, Steering wheel controller and Fighter Stick, Sega Dreamcast, around 300 games, and I have the rare wireless infrared control pads for my Genesis. Original Nintendo with gallery gun, joystick controllers and around 150 games. :smoke: :smoke: |
Fairchild Channel "F" (first video game system with cartridges)
Atari 2600 (for nostalgia purposes) Atari 8 bit systems (400,800,XEGS, numerous ones) Still play with the Fairchild and the Atari 400, at this point I just have enough time to plug in carts and play, one day I will get around to loading a bunch of Atari games from disk to the programmable cart I bought. Zaxxon stand up cabinet Vintage 1969 Chicago Coin Pirate Gold Pinball I am cleaning up and restoring. All projects get some time, just takes a long time to finish any one of them. Rob |
Too many! The most vintage are...
A ColecoVision with Atari and driving modules Atari XE (the one with the computer keyboard) An NES, built into the bottom of a Sharp 19" TV An SNES A TurboGrafx-16 I got complete in the box for $5 A Pioneer LaserActive, which is how I play my Sega Genesis games A Philips CD-i A GoldStar 3DO (also a Panasonic, but that one seems dead) Sega Saturns (one black, one white) Dreamcast And of course, a 2600...that's just about to be upgraded to a 7800 I just scored. |
Lots
Two atari 2600's (black and wood grain) Intelivition Three atari computers Commodore 64 Sega Master System four Sega Genesis's two Dreamcasts four Nes's Messiah Generation NEX (NES clone) Two SNES's N64 Wii PS2 xBox 360 Then on the portable/handheld side Game Boy Game Boy pocket GB Color GB Advanced GB advanced SP DS (the original) Virtual Boy GP2X PSP that's 25 different systems, 35 counting multiples. |
I have an Atari 2600, which I purchased at a thrift store years ago to replace my original Sears Tele-Games I received for Christmas in 1979 (I believe.) The Sears went up in smoke before I knew anything about electronics and I pitched it.
I also have an Atari Super Pong - haven't hooked it up in years. My wife, otoh, has a Playstation. |
*heh* Let's see... I have:
Sears Telegames "Pinball Breakaway" Bentley Compuvision ("Pong" clone) Commodore 64 (but that was also my favourite computer) Commodore (Amiga) CD32 Sega Dreamcast Sony Playstation 2 (hacked!) ... and they all still work. I've never been much of a gamer, though. |
I have an Atari 2600 i think (I think its a 2600) and i play some coleco stuff via an emulator (I'd like to have the console back as i have MANY GAMES i wouldnt mind playing again :))
|
Now that you're mentioning Commodores, I guess I can mention the late-model 64 I got along with a Coleco Telstar (the pong one, not the 3-headed arcade one) in a trade. Yet to find software for it...maybe someday.
|
Commodore 64 is one of my FAVOURITES EVER!!
I use mine daily and have many games :) |
I havent much these days.. i lost my sega and dreamcast somewhere in a move.
But ive still a functional old console nintendo and a very quirky atari 2600. but as ive had both since the 80s, theyre with me till time ends. |
Somewhere...I've got a Dreamcast. I mostly picked one up for the NES emulation.
These days, I own a Wii...which I mostly use for NES/SNES/Genesis/Atari 2600 emulation thanks to Homebrew Channel. I did pick up a couple of Virtual Console games (including the one I got for purchasing Internet Channel last year), however, the quality between the emulated version and...the VC emulated version is nothing. Emulated output of interlaced video matches the quality of the original systems...and the progressive upsampling is pretty good. ..plus the Classic Controller is just...awesome. |
Still have Pong at my Mom's house, have the tv here that we used to play it on.
|
My lack of eye/hand coordination kept me out of sports, and kept me out of video gaming as well. We had a 2600 & original Nintendo, though it was my sisters who used them. I played some simple stuff on the Atari but only used the Nintendo as video to test old TV sets.
Right now the only thing I have is a Radio Shack pong. The other day I found a couple cartridges at the TV shop; one is for an Atari but the other is one I hadn't heard of before, an RCA Studio II I think it's called? Just have the game, not machine. |
I still have these, all modified for direct audio/video outputs:
Atari 2600 Atari 5200 Atari 7800 Mattel Intellivision (with Intellivoice) Colecovision (with 2600 adapter and steering and roller controllers) Also a Nintendo that needs its cartridge slot connector replaced (I have the part), and an old 10-in-1 brand-X game unit (color, multiple Pong-type games with dual analog joysticks) that predates the Atari 2600. And cartridges... Lots of them. I used to drive over to the Atari main office in the late 80's and buy 7800 cartridges in their company store for $10 each when they came out. |
Some very cool vintage gaming machines indeed.
My first gaming machine was a knock off of the Pong machine. Couldn't even tell you who made it. Wish I still had it tho. Also had a TI-994a computer with the cassette drive. LOVED Parsec...miss that one too! Still have the Atari 2600, the original I got for Christmas in 1980. Atari 5200 that I got for Christmas is 1983 Atari 7800 Sony Playstation Sony PS2 Nintendo Wii Also had an Atari 800xl with the floppy drive, touch tablet and Okidata Colormate 10 printer. OOHH, I thought that was just the bomb back in '85. LOL Sure played em for hours and hours. |
Just my NES and Game Boy - and I don't know if the Game Boy works. The NES works fine, and I have a ton of cartridges. I wish I still had my Intellivision...
|
Commodore 64 and TONS of game software.
|
A couple of 2600s, Colecovision, C64, Sega Genesis, a number of Game Boys, NES and I think there's an SNES somewhere too... also VictorMaxx virtual reality goggles, got them at Big Lots for cheap, you use them with an SNES or Genesis but I have never tried hooking them up. They have a dinky little passive matrix LCD, Fresnel lens, stereo audio and an encoder that is supposed to move you left-right as you turn your head. I also have an Aura Interactor (basically a scaled-down Bass Shaker in a backpack).
|
Atari 2600, and NES as far as vintage goes - though I'm sure my super nintendo will soon become "vintage" if it hasn't already.
|
I wonder what an Atari 2600 with all of the accessories and plastic storage/carrying container that is in near mint condition would be worth round-a-bout these days.
|
Dunno, but I wish I had hung on to mine
|
I have a Gamecube and a PS2. Looking to sell the Gamecube, simply don't play it anymore.
My step-dad wanted to get a Wii for physical therapy. |
The other day I saw an Atari retro setup for young people to dig on the "old school" stuff. Everything was miniature (of course). I thought about picking it up, but I already have enough irons in my fire with old, well, you name it. Now I am even getting old! Time flys for sure! Seems like only a few years ago I was getting the 2600 for Christmas around 1981, or so....

Atari Super Pong Atari 2600 Atari 800 Systems I still have include those above plus: Fairchild Channel-F Atari 400 Coleco Colecovision Mattel Intellivision Atari Jaguar GCE Vectrex Magnavox Odyssey2 Plus some oddball ones, such as Sears and Radio Shack house versions of some of the above. Jeff |
my little collection consists of:
Magnavox Odyssey 4000 (complete with box) Sears Telegames version of Intellivision Nintendo Super Nintendo Nintendo 64 Playstation 2 (daily driver) The Intellivision knock-off Sears Telegames was our family's first video game system from way back. Thus, it is my sentimental favorite. |

Are businesses in general hurting so badly that they must continually cut back on quality and/or quantity over time just to stay afloat? :thumbsdn: |
I don't remember if I posted this already or not, but oh well. I have a Sears TELE-GAMES Model NO 75005 complete "Video Arcade" that could use a new home. I am not into gaming and never was. I got this for Christmas in about 1981 or 2 if I remember right. The thing is in like new condition because it has hardly ever been used! Back then I would much rather walk to the 7-11 and play pinball than some nerdy game. That's the way some of us kids saw them; we were the kids that hung around the cooler older kids (like me). This thing is the twin to the Atari 2600 (I think) and it has all of the accessories and even a storage cabinet with the Atari logo on top. If anybody is interested just PM me.

well i scrubbed my atari 7800's board with rubbing alcohol.. nothing else has worked. used a bras brush on the connector pins. bought a new power pack and well..she works now. but is very very touchy, even tapping her ..she will stop working..so, i dunno whats wrong.

I have a real nice Sears Tele-Games that was mentioned earlier in this thread (I think), but for the moment another party has expressed interest in it. I have been so busy that I have not even had time to get a quote on the shipping cost to send it to him in order to see if his offer would be do-able. If he is no longer interested I will re-post it for sale. |
I got several....
two NESs side loaders with bad contacs(at least I can get one to work by applying rubbing alcohol to the cartrage before insertion) an SNES (working) blue N64 (the only system I ever bought new) the Game Cube (coulden't pass it up at 10$) PS1 (working but only kept for nostalgia because I used to play one with my girlfriend back when I was about 10) PS2 (working, but missing the DVD drive door, the hard drive door, and the hard drive) Sega Genesis (working) Game Gear (it once showed a split second of startup screen, but all it does now is give me black screen) two dead Atari 2600s (one used to work:tears:) Colocovision (I do not have a power cord video cable or games to test it, but it was 2$ so dead or alive I'm not loosing anything) also several of those retro game controlers/console rehashes that were popular a few years back. I used to be really into collecting video games from when I was around 11 till a year or two ago when I stoped spending on anything that did not contain vacuum tubes. I still play on occaision, but with college and my other hobbies(which take precidence) I rarely have time to(or think to) pick up a controler. Tom C. |

Oh by the way, the Tele-Games unit I mentioned is an Atari 2600 made for Sears-Roebuck & Co. and is in mint condition. :thmbsp: |
Well im rather happy. My brother visited a few months back and rather enjoyed playing the nes i have. He sent me the old sega we had back in the day. Complete with cords, games and 32x adaptor. After cleaning off the insane amount of grime that it had accumulated, i plugged it in and she works perfect. Ive honestly forgotten how good the graphics and colors were for a 16 bit system.
So yes, now ive an nes, snes, atari 7800 prosystem and a sega now hooked up in my living room. A true mess or cables and cords, but to any older gamer it looks like what it is, heaven. |
Atari 2600/4 switch/wood grain. Only the second Atari I've ever owned. It's rather interesting how I got it.
I originally got an Atari in the early 80's from my parents. It only included Combat at the time and Pac-Man was sold separately. I played the heck out of that thing. I wound up burning out a capacitor in the thing after leaving it on for a week or two solid. I have the game Towering Inferno (based on the movie) and there is a certain point you can just keep playing no matter what (it may be a certain difficulty level, I really don't remember). I didn't want to quit the game so I left it going for like a week or two. I replaced the capacitor but the picture was funky after I did. About that time a friend of mine decided to sell her and her hubby's Atari. Her dad worked for the trash company and had found two NES's in the trash and took them home to them. Actually that is how they found the Atari as well, along with about 20 games and a case. For $20 I got the Atari, the games and the case. I turned around and sold one game, Tapper, on eBay for $15 so in essence I gave $5 for the system. I have about 150 or so games for it. It's hooked up to my 55" LG LED but I need new joysticks. I have an NES that my ex-wife had a fit to have at a flea market along with a handful of games. I've replaced the connector inside several times and they keep going out. One of these days I'll order another one and get it fired up again. I have an SNES that a former coworker gave me that was in her shed. I've got a handful of games for it also. I have a Wii in the bedroom that I've never played. Hooked it up after I got it and never could get the controllers to sync. I've got it put aside for some day when I'm bored lol. :D |

1980 Sears Telegames VideoArcade with a service label taped inside. I won it on a glitched E-bay auction in 2000. I have about 150 carts for it and a ton of controllers. I've owned a lot of Atari's and the Atari-In/Atari-Out thing ended once I learned how to fix them. There are some rebuilts of mine floating out there including a Heavy Sixer, a Darth Vader in the ORiginal Box that someone jammed earrings into the cart slot of, and a few 4-switch woodies.
NES "Frankentendo" - It's an Ex-Girlfriend's dead NES and 2 Goodwill $5 specials best parts all put together into one nice unit. Have about 120 carts for it and most of the standard Nintendo periphery....just need to find a power mat for World Class Track Meet. I have a beat to heck Intellivision II that runs off a US Robotics Modem Power Supply, and a bunch of boxed games with overlays for it. I hardly touch it though, It's waiting for the Mitsubishi to be fixed. I know it's actually a Computer but my Tandy 1000 A from 1985 sits under the TV and is used to game for the most part as well. It's pretty tricked out with networking and a Vintage Computer Forum IDE card though. Then I have a softmodded XBOX used just for retro-gaming and watching DVDs, and in the LIvingroom we have a Wii that sees plenty of action as well....a good mix of virtual console, just dance 3 (exercise), and New Super Mario. |
Well a College buddy got me back into vintage gaming again.
Wound up getting an Xbox, a MIB Coleco, a X32 expansion module for my Genesis, and my Atari 2600 is working again. With the MIB Coleco I was able to test the other one I had and after determining it worked I gave it to my buddy, who has been really enjoying it since getting the power brick and some accessories like the Atari 2600 game adapter. He also figured out what was wrong with the Atari...I put a chip in backwards while doing cleaning years back. Much to our surprise the chip worked when reinstalled properly! Man did they make solid chips back in the day. |
