I recognized the seller. I haven't spoke with this fellow in several years. He has a couple of nice pre-wars. I've just sent him PM to see if he'll join us here at AK.

Can't be a 5 though, can it? Look at the screen bezel, saying "C O L O R"
I thought those didn't come around till the CTC-7  |
It's a CTC-5
Can't speak to the word "COLOR" on the bezel. But this is the CTC-5 "Aldrich" model which did not have that wording. There was a CTC-5 late production model called the "Lockhaven" that had "COLOR" on the bezel in gold letters. The next "Mark" series CTC-7 all had the word "COLOR" under the screen.

Pencil box
The 7 doesn't have the pencil box on the front, the controls are on the side.
In case anyone doesn't know, Ed Reitan has a great Color TV history section on his site: http://www.novia.net/~ereitan/ It does look like the "Aldrich" except for the "Color" logo. Other 5's do have that so maybe some of this model made it out of the factory with it? Eric |

You'd consider selling that beauty? :sadwave: :dunno: :bash: :twak: Actually, many of the rarer vintage TV's as collectible artifacts are currently way undervalued IMO. If you sold your CT-100 today for ten grand, considering the devaluation of the dollar since 1954, you'd only be getting back what it sold for new. Hardly the appropriate return on a valuable and rare collectible. Wait my friend. I know you were only kidding. :) Rob |
First color table model - 1955?
He says this CTC5 was RCA's first table model. There is a table model in the CTC4 lineup. Also the date given (1955) cannot be right, because the CTC5 was not released until the fall of 1956! :dunno:

http://www.novia.net/~ereitan/ I have the 'Seville' model, If I take the undercarriage off it, it becomes the tabletop CTC-4 called the 'Havilland'. Wow, I have the first model RCA tabletop color TV in my collection! I did not realize this. :) You are also correct about the CTC-5 being 1956. Rob |
Hey,
This is great stuff, :p: and you had better have a heavy duty table to support that bad boy. My first color set was the CTC-5 Aldrich. I soon attached those pointy screw on legs and it became a consolette. |
"Undercarriage"??

My favorite CTC4 model is the Director, with blond finish. Bill |
End of auction
It went for a mere US $556.00 :)

Welcome aboard Mikey!
Are you my friend in England? :) If so, did that color flyback ever become useful? Cheers, Rob |
