Mitsubishi Blue Tube Diamondvision 19"

1 Attachment(s)
I just picked up a super-clean MGA 19" wood-cased table model color set with the blue diamondvision tube. It was at an estate sale up in Plano (TX), and I got it free before the sale, which is planned for tomorrow. I only grabbed it because it's so clean, and I hadn't seen a blue tube MGA in awhile! This one even still has the original remote in the storage slot on the front of the set, and all the original papers. It's still in my wife's car, so photos later if anyone cares.

This photo is internet stock of a very similar set:

I recently got a blue tube Mitsubishi too.

Great picture and cool looking with the blue tube.

IIRC GE made monochrome sets with blue tinted CRT faces in the early-mid 60's.

I had a Mitsubishi set with a blue pix tube .I had to dump it when I moved. I do recall the GE color version in the 1980's .I think they called it GE Neovision.
They say it enhances the color on the sets. Please correct my if wrong.

Got it in the house last night; works great and CRT like new!!! I'm happy that it didn't have a cracked/arcing flyback, which I remember having lots of issues with in the 80s and 90s on those.

I'm glad your set works great and it looks great too.

Also it looks like the set I had before I moved in here.

I think the GE monochromes weren't blue tint, but a phosphor with a bluer output. A dumb idea except to customers who equated different with better. I think they tried to imply it was more natural, but really it was bluer than daylight.

Not sure if the Mitsu color tubes with blue tint had any claimed technical advantage or just were a different look. I do know Mitsu projos used the 9300 + 27MPCD color temp for a long time. Made the reds and greens look saturated by comparison to the cyanish white, but also meant the set was very susceptible to color variations in the broadcast.

Awrite! Same control panel as the Electrohome set we had a long time ago, and I know that they were made by Mitsu from 1984 to I don't know when. What year is this one?

Mfd June 1985.

Pretty much like my console! Mine is June 84 if I remember correcly. If I where you I would check the caps in the vertical circuit as it seems to be a common problem on the Mitsu of that vintage.
