'41 Imperial portable
1 Attachment(s)
I thought I'd post another interesting battery only portable radio. This one is a 1941 Imperial. I don't know of a model number connected to it as it was a catalog radio sold by Paramount Supply Company. It's a generic Chicago based set that is found with several different badge names on it. Imperial radios were actually very nice radios. They were not second rate sets at all. This one is in excellent original condition and has a convincing alligator covering. The previous owner installed a small battery eliminator in the case so I can use this one as much as I want. It's a good performers as all of these early battery sets are.

That could be real alligator skin I hear the weren't protected or endangered yet, and back then and alligator skin was popular enough that demand eventually led to them becoming protected.
I was expecting a Chrysler product based on the title... |
